BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum - Privacy Statement
  Our Privacy Policy

Out of concern for your privacy, the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum will not sell or otherwise transfer any information gathered through the course of your visit to this site. All information gathered, either through automatic means or through user submission, is protected under this policy and is maintained and accessible only by the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.

What do we do with the information we collect?

The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum requests personal information through both of the online nomination and scholarship application forms solely to allow for processing of these requests. Only that information deemed necessary to evaluate the appropriateness of both nominees and scholarship applicants is being collected, and will not be used for any additional marketing purposes (including transfer to third parties) without your explicit consent.

Additionally, the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum makes use of the information gathered from your interaction with the site to continually improve the site. Without collecting site usage data for instance, we would not be able to identify possible problem areas on the site, highlight potentially valuable and interesting content areas, or understand how successful our site was in delivering a positive and effective experience for our visitors. However, this site usage data is not personally identifiable information, and no effort is made to correlate this data with personal information that may be submitted via the application forms on this site.

What information are we collecting?

We collect two types of information: anonymous site usage data and personally identifiable information through the nomination and scholarship application forms available on this site.

Anonymous site usage data is the information we can observe through the interpretation of server log files. Each time you click on a link to bring up a new page, information is automatically updated to a file on the web server. That information consists of:
  • your IP address (which is normally the IP address of your Internet service provider)
  • the file or page that you requested
  • the time that the request was made
  • the referring page (the URL that you made the request from)
  • the browser type that you are using
None of this information can be tied back to a specific individual.

For the purposes of processing both candidate nominations and scholarship applications, the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum collects some personally identifiable information through the forms available on this site. Primarily, this collection can consist of the following information items:
  • name
  • address
  • telephone number/facsimile
  • e-mail address
  • activity related information
PLEASE NOTE: This personally identifiable information is only collected when you agree to complete these forms on site. At no time is any identifiable information being collected without your explicit consent. To ensure that all users are aware of what is being done with this information, at every point on site where this information is collected, users are presented with a clear link to our privacy policy.

Do we use cookies?

At this time, the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum does not make use of cookies or any other form of persistent user identification and has no plans to do so in the future. Should future development require that we institute this form of user tracking, the exact nature of information being stored will be detailed within this policy along with instructions for users who may wish to decline.
