SELECTION PROCESS

Each year, a committee of volunteers selects athletes and teams in the following categories to be inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame.

• Athlete
• Team
• Builder
• Media
• Pioneer
WAC Bennett Award

The slate of selected athletes and teams for Induction are submitted to the Board of Trustees for review and approval. Approximately six months later, these individuals are officially inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame at the prestigious Banquet of Champions, the public recognition and official induction ceremony.
Any individual, organization or association may submit a nomination, with the following exceptions:

• Nominations for the calendar year are accepted until October 1st.
• Any individual or association may submit a nomination with the following exceptions:

o A current Member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee may not submit a nomination.
o A member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame Board of Trustees may submit a nomination but if the Trustee submits a nomination, that Trustee may not vote on that nomination if and when it is brought to the Board of

Trustees for approval.
• Each nomination is eligible for three (3) consecutive years. If at the end of three (3) consecutive years of eligibility, a nomination has not been selected for induction, the nomination must sit inactive for a period of one (1) year after which the nomination can be resubmitted.
• All nominations will be considered at an initial Selection Sub-Committee meeting at the beginning of November. Depending on the outcome of that process, further information on the nomination may be required. The final selection process will take place in the middle of November and the names will be released to the media in December.
